:: Objectives

The overall objective of the project is to foster new linkages among Non-Governmental Development Organizations (NGDOs) and leading development think tanks in New Member States (NMS) and EU-15 as well as among their respective developing country partner networks in order to:

  1. promote greater understanding of development challenges (especially the diverse contexts in which development policies are formulated and implemented),
  2. facilitate greater public support in NMSs for national and regional development assistance and poverty reduction efforts
  3. contribute to more strategic and evidence-informed policy dialogue and engagement on international development issues in EU policy fora, which will in turn impact the quality of life of poor people in developing countries.

During project implementation the following specific objectives will be taken into consideration:

  1. To build a development policy knowledge network among NMS NGDOs (with select EU-15 and developing country partners and associates), which will provide education and knowledge exchange on current economic and social aspects of development dilemmas in an innovative and non-technical way, so that development practitioners can better understand complex development policy issues and global interdependencies.
  2. To strengthen the capacities of development practitioners and media/educators to communicate and engage effectively with the public in NMS and select developing countries on key international development policy issues through the application of cutting-edge knowledge management, learning and communication tools.
  3. To promote more equitable working relations and knowledge exchanges with local country partners by involving them in the activities of the development knowledge network as both participants and ‘trainers’.
