The fourth roundtable, which was held in Bratislava, is part of the project led by CASE. The roundtable, which will be held in Bratislava, is part of the project led by CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research (http://www.case-research.eu/) and Overseas Development Institute (ODI, http://www.odi.org.uk/) with the participation of the NGDO platforms from the Visegrad group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, so called V4) and funded by the European Commission. The main objective of the project is to promote a greater understanding of the development challenges, to facilitate greater public support in New Member States for poverty reduction efforts and to contribute to more strategic and evidence-informed policy dialogue and engagement for international development issues.

The primary topic of the first day were climate changes and its impact on development countries in order to strengthen the knowledge of NGOs in this field. This should be discussed through lectures and on a cross-sectored roundtable. Based on the information and articulated arguments around climate changes and its impact on developing countries NGOs should outline a regional policy brief that can be further used in their own advocacy work and media engagement during UN conference on climate changes in Copenhagen. Furthermore, there was a session of interactive working group session.

The topic of the second day focussed on communication strategy. In three sessions followed by group exercises, participants learned more how to use online communications (email strategy, using websites) and how to build the capacity of NGOs to work more effectively with the media.
