The November meeting provided the participants with empirical and critical insights into the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and poverty reduction policies, strengthening the New Member States (NMS) development practitioners’ understanding of those issues and their position as credible dialogue partners for decision-makers and the public. (in the public- policy and decision-making process) Using interactive methods and MDGs and poverty reduction models from different regions worldwide, each roundtable provided a training on communication and network building. The first roundtable looked into the successes and failures of the MDGs in the Visegrad region and the role of non-governmental development organizations towards achieving the MDGs. Exchange of knowledge was also at the forefront of discussions as the roundtable brought together NMS organizations and representatives of national platforms to discuss means of cooperation and the need to institutionalize the potential of this knowledge network. The Warsaw Roundtable served as a steppingstone to the project future directions as participants will monitor its progress and decide on activities in order to capitalize on their freshly acquired knowledge: mentoring, project website, reporting, publication, project administrative issues.
